Saga of the "Park Slope Vue" Not Over

Petition Crop

The tall South Slope building at 162 16th Street known as the Vue may be on the market, but the battle against it by residents isn't over. In an email, circulating a new petition that is partly aimed at the development, neighborhood activist Aaron Brashear calls the building an "illegal eyesore." Resident Bo Samajopoulos of The Concerned Citizens of South Slope writes:
We are asking for your immediate intervention into these issues. This developer has been allowed by the DOB and other city agencies to make a mockery of the law and our quality of life. For 3 years we have asked for some oversight (at the very least). Instead we have gotten nothing and/or worthless assurances. Now, as they try to sell off this blight on our community, it appears that the structure itself may indeed be illegal (questionable at the very least). What is DOB doing? They are working feverishly with this developer and his associates to try to justify everything that has been done. We would like this collusion to stop and we ask that the community which has been abused by this developer to be included in any and all discussions and developments regarding a structure that will directly effect us for many years to come.
A copy of the petition, which lays out a variety of conditions and requests, is available here.

I actually like it! Wasn't this already approved? How do these people have so much time on their hands for such nonsense? It seems that everyone is anti development.

Sometimes even gun licenses are mistakenly approved. Does that make it right? If it is found out (hopefully before any further damage is done)- is the government then supposed to allow the licensee to continue to carry a gun illegally or take it and his license away? That seems to be the issue here.

To Mr "Great Project"
I live 2 blocks away and it's a piece of shit.
2 years ago when Katan was throwing around money like there is no tomorrow he thought he could shit all over that area. I heard that he paid some "Clown" 400k for a parking spot on 15th street. Then they cost him big time on 15th street and now with no market for that crap you want to blame the "same 5 clowns"
If it's "always the same 5 clowns" then I guess you paid off the wrong clowns.

it is important to note to the first two clowns that it is not "5 people" (read the post or the petition), it's 40 local residents and collectively over 300 in the South Slope and Greenwood Hts.

Bottom line, the developer has made the quality of life HELL for the local residents and probably could lose his shirt and 6 stories off his buildings if an appeal to the BSA was made.

Working legally, safely and compliant with code, not to mention being a "good neighbor" to the community, should be mandatory.

Not the case here or his other defeated project at the BSA at 182 15th St.

The man is a criminal and should be treated as such.

Umm I'm not a clown I am soon to be one of your neighbors, and I think it's one of the best products I have seen and we have been looking for over a year! I can understand that it sticks out and rises over the adjacent property but it's Nyc. I don't think your helping your cause by having a petition now when the building is already half sold, it just seems sleazy when you had plenty of time beforehand!

all the new buildings in park slope, helped make the slope one of the best neighborhoods in the country.

i went through the petition, 6 couples = 12 people with the same property address and phone #'s.

How interesting

First of all it's NOT park slope. Secondly it was not the new buildings that brought everyone they were here already. It was the opportunity to suck the blood out of everyone who lived in such a great place that brought the blood suckers like Boymelputz and yourself.

To the clown who wants to know the Developers name. - You should know. You are in bed with him. And why is it that you want him to do more projects in "The neighborhood" not YOUR neighborhood. Could it be that even you wouldn't want to live next to a KATAN project. Maybe we can lock all the shills along with Katan and Boymelputz in one of Radusky's prisons. They can spend their days telling each other how great they all are and counting all the money they've stolen.

In response to the strong support of the petition from the The Concerned Citizens of South Slope demanding "Responsible & Lawful Development in Park Slope, South Park Slope, Greenwood Heights, Sunset Park, Brooklyn" and specifically highlighting "162 16th St. aka VUE," an on-line petition has been created for our community to add to the 40+ signatures from immediate neighbors to 162 16th St.

Please take 2 minutes to read and sign the petition and if you can, e-mail it to a friend, family member or fellow advocate.

We must continue to support ALL of our communities!

To the guy who is counting names.
It's funny how you want to minimize the people who oppose this crap and all the violations against it. It is that attitude which has allowed these shit boxes to continue to be built all over the place. One opponent or one hundred what's the difference. It only takes one illegal act to put you in jail. Because these guys have been allowed to get away with many illegal acts they now believe that they are above the law.

I am a neighbor and I want this project to stay!

Stop complaining about nonsense

Brachear and Bo as a neighbors I am asking that you stop pushing your BS agendas on us in the community so you can gain some fame or popularity for yourselves.

We want this project to stay. It is a good project.

I may not agree with some of what B&B say or do but I gotta hand it to them. We need more people like them in this world. Most of the rest of us (myself included) are too lazy or afraid to fight the good fight. It is so much easier to just go along with all the rest of the cattle.
I hope they get that building taken down. If for no other reason than to prove a point that we do have laws and the Rich Developers of this world are not above the laws.

The hell with B & B I want the building taken down so that I can see the sky again.
That building, just like the other piece of junk going up on 13th street, is god awfull. Does any one know if it's the same morons involved.

We don't want B&B's help, we want more project like suite 16,VUE in this area.

These projects define the south of the slope for the better!

YES! We want more developments like these

Just got back from an open house?

Speaking of agenda?
The Katans of the world have theirs - Rape and pillage at others expense. So what is B&B's agenda? To protect those that are being raped and pillaged.
I guess the question for this blog is simple - who's agenda do we all chose to support?
I say we all sign the petition to rid the world of the Katan and Boymelputz's of the world.

Bo, you build this stuff during the day. What are you complaining about? is this a personal agenda?

we as neighbors want this project!!

Sounds like someone is getting very personal!
Who is running this blog?
Why not stay on the topic - The building and the developers very bad record.
Are we all going to now have to worry about voicing our opinions because some shill for the developer will look to take out his personal vendetta against anyone in opposition?
Lets deal with the facts as they pertain to this (or any subject)
-Big ugly building
-No consideration for Community
-Some like it
-Some don't
-Why?
It seems to me that this Bo guy has got some one - Probably someone trying to sell off these Godawfull
condo's - a little pissed off. Could it be that what he and the others are saying about it are true and may very well effect the sales.
I get the impression that this is the case.
After reading the vindictive stuff written on this blog I am sorry to say to the developer -
Sorry you won't be seeing me at any of your open houses - anywhere.

It seems Bo and Brashear are doing this to get some fame or publicity, this is a stupid petition.

Mr's Katz & Katan (the developers of this Thing - for those who don't know and also the authors of everything good about the project and everything bad about those who oppose it),
Why don't you stop hiding. Stop the personal attacks and start answering for your actions.
Deal with the facts -
Yes I don't like it but that is no reason for somebody to avoid buying it. Unless of course my opinion matters to someone more than yours.
What does matter are the facts.
When people ask me about this or any structure the first thing I tell them is to do there home work. Don't take my (or any ones) opinion.
Find out who the Developers & Architects are and find out their track record - In this case all BAD.
Check their other project. Speak to people who own other project built by the same people. In this case you can find many of them on the court calender waiting to sue.
Talk to the neighbors and ask about there relationship and dealing with the Developer.
In this case you have chosen to ignore all inquiries and requests to address the concerns of the community.
You have purposefully bullied and abused the community.
Remember what you told the old woman who asked about the size of this building? You told her "If you don't like it you can move"
What about what you told me when I asked you to sit down and discuss some issues.
You said "I don't have to sit down with anyone in this community... "
Is that being a good neighbor?
These are the things that should matter to a potential buyer.
Not your personal attacks on me or even my opinion of you.
I don't want publicity or to be famous. For what wasting thousands of dollars and many man hours trying to make sure that those that are paid by my tax dollars are doing what they are paid for and not the personal whims of the rich. I am definitely not doing it for money.
What I want is what's right. I want to teach my child and every child that money is not the only thing that matters in this world.
Like I said before - All the money in the world won't give you character or make you right.
Stop the personal attacks and start addressing the issues.
Your Buddy
Bo

The building is gorgeous, absolutley first rate and very affordable housing. All the jealous neighbors, mind your own business. Its perfectly legal and its called progress. Otherwise, Brooklyn would be all farmland. Come to think of it , why dont you sell, make a lot of money , and buy some farmland . Creeps!
