GL Reader Question: What's Up on Fifth Avenue?
Here's an interesting question from one of our readers about some interesting activity on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope:
Hello- 5th Ave has been completely lined with dumptrucks for the last few days...there must be 15-20 of them at least from maybe sackett to 2nd. I see that they're doing work on 5th Ave itself near Union, but there's way more dumptrucks than they could ever possibly fill in a reasonable timeframe. Is this a preview of the Atlantic Yards? Maybe some of your readers know what's going on?We presume it's construction site excavation, but nyone who knows anything, please leave a comment or email us at thegowanuslounge (at) gmail (dot) com.

I live on Sackett and 5th and I take my kids to the park and out for walks several times a day and I have no idea what this reader is talking about. I haven't seen a single truck. There is some street work being done a few blocks up by Los Pollitos, but thats it. Strange.
Glad to be able to clear this up. The owner of the former warehouse site on the north side of Garfield between 4th and 5th have been excavating its foundations, and pulling out rather a lot of material in the process. This was the site to which Enrique Norten's name was briefly attached, but which recently had the architect's name (not Norten's) name removed from the sign.
