Breaking: Hudson Companies to Develop Public Place
The city has picked the Hudson Companies development team to build 'Gowanus Green' at Public Place between the Gowanus Canal and Smith Street. Rogers Marvel is the project architect. The development will include 774 apartments, 38,000 square feet of retail and 100,000 square of open space. A big cleanup of the toxic site has to come before any development.

This is a smart use of the space and beautiful, too!
I hope they actually go ahead and build this so that we don't have to stare at a depressing empty lot for another few decades.
This would be so great for the nab. Let's get it started! From what I know, Hudson is a pretty stand up developer. I wonder what kind of retail will end up there?
Roger Marvel's design for the Clarett building proposed for the for ILA facility at Union and Court Streets was a big disappointment. The fabrication chosen for the Union and Court Street block faces was dark and ugly and downright inappropriate for a brownstone neighborhood, which makes me uneasy that they don't really understand designing buildings that fit into our historic neighborhood. I realize that this project is more freestanding and can be more contemporary, but we don't want bad comtemporary like the Hannah Senesh building.
these posts seem like they were posted from insiders at hudson or rogers marvel. there is much clean up, so, don't go jumping up and down for that banana rebupublic shit anytime soon.
This design does not fit in the neighborhood. I don't see the need for all these 10-12 story buildings. Thanks again Rogers Marvel.
Hudson Companies have gone very quiet over the 3rd and Bond development - there's been no work onsite for a month now, and no blog on Brownstoner last week? Finance???
