Park Slope's Cafe 11 is Finito

Cafe 11, a relatively new cafe on Seventh Avenue in Park Slope between 11th and 12th Street has bitten the dust. The establishment closed its doors sometime this week. It was located in a fairly (for Seventh Avenue) cafe-heavy area, given the presence of the Tea Lounge and Naidres nearby, never seemed to do very well in terms of attracting customers despite the cheerful look and free wi-fi.

It's a shame this place didn't make it because it was never crowded and had free wi-fi, but it never seemed like the owners tried that hard.

The coffee was good (but not of a different class that could be found at Naidres or Tea Lounge), but their baked goods were lame. They had good ice cream, but somehow presented it in a way that just wasn't that fun.

Didn't try that hard? I live around the corner and those two owners (a husband and wife team, I think) were there constantly. I actually think they worked really hard at it. As any good Park Sloper, I'm always sad when a place closes.

I loved cafe 11, but I agree it wasn't going to last. I am sure the couple that owned it worked very hard but I always felt a cold reception from the wife, who made me feel like she didn't particulary want my business. Not that I need to be pandered to, but I was in there almost everyday this past fall and not once did she act like I was a return customer, much less give a smile.

I still liked it though and preferred it due to its backyard terrace and spaciousness. I wish them well!
