Smoke Break & Work at Greenpoint's 143 Huron

143 Huron Working and Smoking

We won't pretend to know a darn thing about construction safety (insert comment here about how we know nothing about a lot of things), but what we do know is that we can look at some things and have them strike us as unsafe. So it is with what is shown here. These photos were sent along by our Greenpoint correspondent, who has kept track of the goings on at 143 Huron, particularly the late night construction antics and lack of city action on the problem. On the left, the gentleman working is standing on either an upside down pail or a block. On the right, the two workers taking a break are on a very narrow scaffold. And so, we ask: safe or unsafe? You decide.

You admit that you know nothing about building construction, yet all you do is write about it.
That makes a lot of sense.

This type of nitpicking debases your credibility on real issues. Stick to the important stuff.

Yeah, not to be a jerk, but ... they spend all day lifting heavy objects on that thing, right? Presumably they can handle standing still.

Yes the scaffold without railing, the worker standing on a bucket, no safety railings on the balconies, all are violations of O.S.H.A. rules. On the flip side get a life, If you just want to have an excuse to take photos of men why not just hire a male model? They will take all their clothes off for you.
