Construction Site Du Jour: 5 Roebling Now Open!!!
After all the drama associated with the ugly demolition of 5 Roebling, aka the Giant Fart Cloud Building, we can report that everything is down and has been carted away. In fact, we can confidently report that the site is clean because part of the fence is down and the site has been left open, which is a fitting conclusion to the demolition saga. We can hardly wait for the construction, which we are confident will be done in a way that is respectful of the neighbors and with exceptionally vigilant enforcement by the Department of Buildings. In the meantime, anyone looking for a muddy vacant lot to hang out in that isn't toxic, 5 Roebling is an excellent choice, although nearby 568 Union--where previously collapsed fencing is still down and even more has fallen--is a superb choice as well.

As you might imagine, those of us who live in the neighboring building are mighty excited about the possibilities a brand new, wide open vacant lot provides for us. Maybe Shlomo Karpen will bag the condos and put up a playground instead. Or perhaps a nice wading pool so after an hour or so in their yoga garden, newly limber W-11 residents can stop by for a dip. I'm sure plenty of visitors will take advantage of the privacy the lot provides; I for one hate shooting up under the unforgiving glare of a streetlight.
AHHHH rAINY DAYS IN WILLIAMSBURG, SMELL LIKE OIL...SUCK IT IN.....DON'T WORRY DEP AND EPA IGNORE US ALL, B/C EVEN WHEN PEOPLE KEEP REPORTING IT, DEP, THE CITY, STATE AND EPS ACT LIKE NOTHING IS GOING ON--DON'T HAVE TO DENY ANY MISCONDUCT IF THE UNDERGROUND OIL PROBLEM ALL OVER THE HOOD DOESN'T EXIST.
