Poetic Development: Howl/The Condo Building

Poetic Development Banner

Howl/The Condo Building

Goodbye Goodbye
I lost my sky,
I spent the morning
Trying to die.
Goodbye Goodbye
You made me cry.
You stole my surroundings
And now I’ll fry.
I spent the noontime
Thinking instead,
It’s the thunderous crane
I wish be dead.
Good bye good bye
You made me cry
I took more meds and said,
I’ll try.
To fight you at the DOB
Despite the force of entropy
To call the mayor, Call the cops,
To scream until this madness stops.
To swear I’ll never
Do it again:
Say I won’t fight you
Til the bitter end.
Goodbye Goodbye
You made me cry,
You may be strong
But so am I..

Poetic Development: Carpe Diem

Poetic Development Banner
Carpe Diem

Carpe diem
Save the day
Let's get BUILDING
All the way
Carpe diem
Lonely night
Filled with back hoes
Warm and bright
Carpe diem
Free the past
All the yesteryears
Are excavated at last
Light the candles
Pour the wine
Building unregulated
Is divine
Carpe diem
Save the day
Get your brownstones
Out of my way
Carpe diem
Be my lover
I'll never need
Any other.

Poetic Development: The Gala

Poetic Development Banner

The Gala

Hypocrisy is lovely when surrounded by dollars
And other accouterments
Salmon pate on dry white toast points
Lightly buttered, the real thing pleased
Weathered wine in sexy glasses
Slipping down the throat so mellow
A wonderful conversation piece
Spruces it up doesn't it
Turns a bare Charlie Brown Christmas tree
Into a Park Avenue Douglas fir
Dripping with tinsel and lace
Hypocrisy can then ooze its ugly grace...

Poetic Development: Ode to a Developer

Poetic Development Banner

Ode to a Developer

Jesus never walked so tall,
Nor I so infinitesimally small
Next to you, My dear.

The oceans never waved so high,
Nor seagulls touched the starlit sky
As high as you, My dear.

Thunder never rang so loud,
Nor lightning struck upon the crowd
Like you upon me, My dear.

My dear, You are earthly supremacy,
Peacock and strut
Loud and belligerent,
May you fall on your butt
I'll be waiting right here
Next to you, My Dear.

Poetic Development: Going Down

Poetic Development Banner

Going Down

It is leaning….M’aaaammmmmm, not
Falllinnggg down
Said the man from DEP.
She looked at the leaning linden tree with fresh eyes
eyes for continued growth
upward movement
pROGRESS
But still she saw the tree falling
not leaning
and
across the street,
the amused men on the stoop
bet on its route to the pavement.

Poetic Development: Good Morning Rat Race

Poetic Development Banner

Good Morning Rat Race (Carroll Gardens Version)

Good Morning.
The BQE is closed.
Due to flooding. Stay in bed where it’s dry.

There's an accident on Smith Street, but the medivac unit
Just arrived. The cars are huffing and puffing up the ramp,

Past the garbage left by yesterday’s bulldozer.
Across the F train dangles a girder

That stood menacingly on an icy day, then
Pierced a building last night, frozen.

Good Morning, Rat Race. No one
Will win this race, and no one seems to care.
