Since our cup runneth over with creatures needing a home, we're featuring two dogs today (kitties tomorrow). This is our second Adoptable Cutie of the Week, Rocko. We'll turn it over to the wonderful Lisa from BARC:

Meet Rocko! He's an energetic 2-year-old, playful and friendly in spite of being from an abusive home. He arrived at BARC from the city shelter and has made lots of friends but would really thrive in a loving, safe home. Rocko's a medium sized, pitbull mix, up to date with all the medical stuff, microchipped and neutered of course!

Every weekend, we feature beautiful cats and dogs that need homes. We've been running a lot of cats, so to provide equal time, we're feature a couple of pups today. Above is a Shar Pei named Jonah who lives a BARC. If you look at his face and he captures your heart, run, don't walk over to the shelter in Williamsburg, because a dog this nice won't be available forever. Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie of the Week: Seven Up

Here's another adoptable pet of the week from the Brooklyn Animal Rescource Coalition (BARC) shelter in Williamsburg.


The cutie above is named Seven Up. Here some info about her:

This is "Seven Up". She was named for the seven puncture wounds she suffered, most likely caused by a dog attack. She's about 8 weeks old and very affectionate. One of the wounds punctured her ear canal, so she's unsteady on her feet and will be on antibiotics and cage rest for awhile. When she's ready for a new home she will be spayed and up to date with all her vaccinations. Seven Up and all the BARC Cat Loft cats (well, most of them anyway!) love to have visitors, so come by Tuesday-Saturday from Noon to 5.

Here's a special Sunday adoptable pet of the week from the Brooklyn Animal Rescource Coalition (BARC) shelter in Williamsburg.


This beautiful creature is named Delbert. He lives at the BARC Shelter in Williamsburg and needs a home. Here is some info about him:

He was found wandering the streets of Brooklyn, skinny and scared. After adjusting to shelter life he was adopted and quickly returned because he "talked too much". He's a siamese what did they expect?!? Much quieter now, he's become depressed and is losing weight again. Let's hope he finds a home soon...

Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie of the Week: Marley

This is Marley, who is a year old, and is a recent arrival at the BARC Shelter in Williamsburg. Here's some info about him from the wonderful Lisa at BARC:

He's a little nervous in his new surroundings, but has a wonderful goofy personality that will serve him well at the shelter. Marley also loves to eat and can be easily distracted from the hard life in a cage with treats! He's just over a year old, but still has a kittens curiosity and playfulness.

Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie of the Week, Part II: Sergio

Here's another adoptable pet of the week from the Brooklyn Animal Rescource Coalition (BARC) shelter in Williamsburg.



We got a photo of Sergio yesterday a little late to post, so we figured we'd present him today, as he's in need of a home and some TLC from someone willing to offer some love to an older dog who could use some comfort. Here's some info about him:

Sergio has some problems. His eyesight isn't what it used to be, he's a little cranky and he's not going to perform tricks to impress your friends or join you for long walks to the park. His very biggest problem is he's living in a shelter when he should be napping on a big soft bed, eating yummy treats and being a loyal friend and companion to the lucky human who takes him home! Sergio is a true mutt, can you figure out his heritage? He's a small dog, about 20 pounds, but has a big personality! Contact BARC to meet him in person.

Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie of the Week: Chachi

Here's another adoptable pet of the week from the Brooklyn Animal Rescource Coalition (BARC) shelter in Williamsburg.


Chachi is a male, one-year-old. The bio on his cage at BARC says:

He was surrendered by his owner. He was so distressed he cut himself on his cage and proceeded to scratch the wound until he bled. Fortunately it looks worse than it is. Once Chachi's in a warm, loving home his cutting behavior should disappear.

Miss Heather, who provide the pics of Chachi observes: "This is an incredibly friendly cat. He is acclimatized to getting a lot of human contact (which is probably why he took so badly to shelter life initially). When I opened up the cage Chachi started hamming it up for the camera. Being young, he is also very playful. I caught him after he took a healthy swipe at the toy hanging at the top of his cage." Get over to BARC and snag this cutie for yourself while he's still there. Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie Redux: The Domino Video

We featured Domino, who lives at Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Kensington, back in March. The good people at Sean Casey have made a video of him and he still needs a home, so we're featuring him again.

Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie of the Week, Part II: Mama

Here's another adoptable pet of the week from the Brooklyn Animal Rescource Coalition (BARC) shelter in Williamsburg.



Generally, we only post one Adoptable Cutie of the Week. But, when we got these photos of Mama, who lives at the BARC Shelter in Williamsburg, we decided to add her today. Miss Heather took these pictures and reports Mama, who is ten, came to BARC with her pal, Buddy, from the same household which "could no longer take care of them." Buddy has been adopted, but Mama still needs a home. Per Miss Heather: "Mama might be older, but in terms of giving and receiving love she was just like a kitten." A bit more about Mama from BARC:

Mama is a really mellow domestic long hair...She is accustomed to living with other cats.

We also suspect that she would love to have a new home. We have an large soft spot for older animals whose lives have been upended by losing their homes. Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie of the Week: Aponte

Here's this week's adoptable pet of the week from the Brooklyn Animal Rescource Coalition (BARC) shelter in Williamsburg.

Here is Aponte and some information about him:

This is Aponte. He was liberated from Animal Care and Control and is one happy, friendly dog! He was skinny, and his handsome brindle coat a bit dull when he arrived at BARC, but he's well on his way to becoming a former shelter dog success story. Aponte is about 50 pounds of pitbull mix, and approximately 3 years old. To meet him in person contact BARC. If you're not ready for a serious commitment, BARC's volunteer dogwalking program is a great way to get a canine "fix" and maybe meet your next best friend.

Adoptable Brooklyn Cutie of the Week: Buddha

We are delayed in posting our Adoptable Cutie of the Week, but when we got this time-sensitive photo from the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition, we knew what we had to do.


Here's some info about our heartbreakingly cute kitty:

Buddha arrived at BARC with a thick file of vet records and an amazingly sunny and sweet attitude. She has a condition called "pulled-tail syndrome" and had a 50/50 chance to regain total feeling in her tail and bottom. She has improved considerably, but is considered a "special needs" kitten. We don't know what exactly happened to her, it may have been intentional abuse or an accident, but she holds no grudge for us humans and would love to have a real home.
